After supper went to Mill Road. Watched a Great Egret fly with a large stick, land on a tree, balance the stick on a branch and sit on the stick. When the egret moved, the stick fell into the pond and the bird looked after it wistfully. Another egret flew in with a stick but dropped it before it reached the tree.
On the way back to the car, spotted the Great White Blue Heron in a tree asleep. It was not at all bothered by the kids fishing nearby who were pretty noisy and boisterous. Called bird club president Mike who's been looking for this bird and he was coincidentally right behind watching his daughter playing soccer. So he trekked over and saw it. The kids say that the bird was there last evening too.
