January 27-29 : Weekend in Nantucket. Very cold but boat ride from Hyannis was calm. Saw tons of Long-tailed Ducks, Surf, Black and White-winged Scoters. In the harbors, Common Goldeneye, Red-breasted Merganser, Buffleheads.
On Sunday, walked to Jetties Beach and Brant Point. Didn't see many birds except Yellow-rumped Warblers, Robins, Mourning Doves, various common gulls and one Dunlin.
Too tired to go out to the power plant on Union Street to try and find the Glaucous Gull, but now I'm sorry.
Snowed Monday and the boat trip back was colder and choppier and not such good looks at birds.

January 21, 2007 : Bird Field Trip--Mike LaBossiere, Kay Langevin and me.
The trip started this morning at 7:30 a.m. and our first stop was at Head of the Bay in Bourne and several Common Snipe were seen. We then made our way to the Railroad Bridge and then Scusett Beach. At the Fish Pier we were delighted to see approx. 8 Bluebirds at fairly close range. We then proceeded to the Parking area and found a large flock of Horned Larks. The canal was fairly quiet but we did get Purple Sandpiper, Common Eider, Great Cormorant, Common Loon, Surf Scoter, A dead White winged Scoter, GREAT looks a Northern Harrier male, and an Accipiter species, likely Sharp shinned. We also had a visit by a rather large "Grey seal. Leaving Scusett we had a large 50+ flock of American Tree Sparrows. A quick look at the Herring Pond yielded Common Mergansers and Ringed Neck Ducks and a possible Red- Throated Loon. Rounding out the day at the conservation area in Wareham we found a Pied-billed Grebe, Hooded Mergansers and American Wigeon.

January 7 - tramped all over Shipyard Farm - lots of Savannahs, Songs, some Redwinged Blackbirds, and the usual birds but no pics.
Billy left his jacket somewhere and we went to Lake Street to look for it....no jacket, but a flock of about 6 bluebirds checking out the holes in trees. Also a huge number of Ring-billed Gulls on the lake and a couple Mute Swans and crows.
